Methods you measure your fuel
There are several methods you can take to detect your fuel level for your fleet:
1. Indirect fuel level monitoring to fuel gauge system in vehicle, 2.
floater fuel level sensor, 3.
capacitance fuel level sensor, 4.
ultrasonic fuel level sensor.
Indirect fuel level monitoring to fuel gauge system in vehicle
you don't need to use any fuel sensor or external equipments to measure fuel level. Every vehicle has its original fuel
gauge on dashboard. If the fuel gauge has 1 wire which is signal wire via analog, then you can use analog wire of GPS
tracker to connect to that signal wire for voltage collection.
It get the voltage by the AD collection and according to the voltage change to know the fuel level in the tank. because
the fuel tank in different car is different .so you need to find out the different relation between the voltage and fuel .our AVL can collect the voltage
from 0-18V.so that mean if you want to know the fuel leave in the fuel tank, so you should work out the coordinate relation between voltage and fuel in your
server. when the GPRS data come to the server, the server work out fuel level in the tank by analyze the GPRS data.
floater fuel level sensor
floater fuel level sensor features its output of floater on the fuel stick. It has about 12mm accuracy in the fuel management. it's cheaper, simple working principle, vivid fuel level visualization, applicable to
many working environments.
Limitations: Mechanical wear: Due to physical movement, long-term use may lead to issues with mechanical wear. And you should tell manufacturer of the length of fuel level sensor first before production due to its fixed length.
capacitance fuel level sensor
Capacitance fuel level sensor is of capacitance as sensitive part. It features its better durability, high precision of 1mm resolution, and maintenance-free operation comparing to floater fuel level sensor.
The better feature is it can be cut shorter to fit different height of user's fuel tank. So distributors or installation technicians can keep the capacitance fuel sensors in stock dur to its cutting-short function. And of course its price is higher than floater fuel level sensor in same length.
ultrasonic fuel level sensor

Both floater fuel level sensor and capacitance fuel level sensor have same problem: they require drilling hole on top of fuel tank or replace the original fuel level sensor. It is very troublesome for installation. Even you may drain the fuel or diesel tank first.
But
ultrasonic fuel level sensor doesn't require making hole on fuel tank. it detect fuel level from outer bottom of fuel or diesel tank. It makes installation more safe and hole-free.
Longer detection rangeultrasonic fuel sensor detection range is 2.5meters which is wider than 2meters of floater fuel level sensor and capacitance fuel level sensor.
